The definition of an idiom is a phrase whose meaning isn't clear from the words in it. -or as in Wikipedia- the idiom is an expression, word, or phrase that has a figurative meaning that is comprehended in regard to a common use of that expression that is separate from the literal meaning or definition of the words of which it is made,
idioms are not only fond in English ,matter of fact , they are found in all cultures and languages all around the world ..few of them here:
Add water to the mud :add fuel to the fire (Arabic)
I hope to eat your eye : you’re cute (Albanian)
An ant milker: a miser, tight wad (Arabic )
